St. Paul’s Mission: “We reach our neighbors for the kingdom of God in Christ through visibility, availability , and service.”
|
We, at St. Paul’s, are fortunate and so blessed! The world is a dangerous and challenging place for many people here in Sacramento and throughout the world. As Christians, our love for our neighbor compels us to do what we can to help. There is much we can do as a small congregation and even more if we collaborate and partner with others. We welcome you to join us in what ever way you can. Sometimes it is as simple as showing up for a service or passing along information that can help you or your friends and neighbors.
The following are our current partnerships and the work St. Paul’s is engaged in: Sacramento Valley Food Bank- we have a contract for the Diaper Distribution Program to distribute diapers, sizes 3-7. St. Paul’s distributes free diapers on the fourth Saturday of each month. There are no requirements for proof of residence, ID, or ANY documentation. We distribute thousands of diapers every month! We would love to be able to help with baby formula but haven’t been able to find a funding source. Families are so happy to receive this assistance because diapers are outrageously expensive. Tahoe Park Neighborhood Association(TPNA)– St. Paul’s is now a member of the association which helps us by posting our events and activities in their social media. We participate in TPNA activities at the park and assist in park clean-up. Every Sunday St. Paul’s collects canned and boxed food for the small free food pantry along the fence of Tahoe Park Elementary School. We will be participating in the park clean-up on Saturday, March 7th. We will gather at St. Paul’s at 8:30 AM and walk over at 9:00 AM. St. Paul’s T-shirts will be provided.
Sacramento Area Lutherans Together (SALT) –C St. Paul’s has joined with other small Lutheran congregations in Sacramento in exploring how we can support each other’s efforts in helping our Sacramento neighbors in need with support, outreach, and evangelization, Lutheran Social Services (LSS) – this organization’s sole purpose is to end homelessness! They provide housing for families, seniors, and foster youth who are turned out of the support system as they turn eighteen. Right now we provide diapers and are collecting the following items for new unhoused Sacramento neighbors who will be getting a place to live in the next three months. If you can help, please bring the following NEW items to St. Paul’s and we will deliver them.
Double Bed Linens Towels Toilet paper Paper plates Broom Dustpan All purpose cleaner Kitchenware
Or, if you prefer, write a check to St. Paul’s with the notation "for LSS homeless" on the bottom.
