St. Paul’s Mission: “We reach our neighbors for the kingdom of God in Christ through visibility, availability and service.”
Diaper Distribution Program
Every year the Sacramento Valley Food Bank (SVFB) has to resubmit a grant request to the State of California for funding the Diaper Program. We usually don’t find out until late August if the program is continuing and if the funding amount will be the same, reduced, or increased.
We received wonderful news this month that the program will be funded for another year, hopefully for the same amount. From our experience distributing diapers for the past three years, we see a great need for this type of program for families. It would be absolutely wonderful if the funding could increase to provide baby formula. Baby formula is so expensive that it is kept under lock and key at grocery stores. If you are a moderate or low-income parent, it is very expensive to provide for a baby’s needs.
During the summer we are continuing to distribute diapers. This month we have parents coming for diapers from our Tahoe Park neighborhood, Elk Grove, Natomas, and Antelope. The fact is that even though gas is expensive, families are choosing to drive a few miles to save money on diapers. Families in our community are struggling to feed and clothe their children.
Please let your friends and neighbors with infants know about the program. We don’t ask for any documentation and provide diapers from sizes three (3) through seven (7).
SAVE THE DATE!
October will be a busy month at St. Paul’s with a fall Pet Blessing, Dia de los Muertos Family Art, and Oktoberfest. This year we are having our Oktoberfest on Friday, October 23rd, starting at 6 PM. A flyer will be coming out in late August with further details.
Monthly Fellowship Suppers
You are welcome to join us on the third Wednesday of each month for supper and fellowship in the Fireside Room. After supper, Pastor Townsend leads us in Bible study or discussions regarding worship. The sessions start at 6 pm and end by 7:30 pm. Our next sessions are August 19 th and September 16 th . Please call (916) 616-7397 if you plan to attend.
